Advanced Bodywork is a system where I partner with you to create a tailor-made program to meet your needs, whether you have a specific injury, recurring muscle tightness or pain, or just need a tune-up. I begin with a postural and movement assessement followed by an evaluation of your health and family histories. I do hands-on therapy which includes massage, active and passive stretching, and range of motion exercises.
Back to top2) What makes Advanced Bodywork different from other massage and physical therapy?
My education (certified in 3 different massage therapy techniques), my experience (trained and interfaced with rehab, fitness, medical, naturopathes, nutritionists, chiropractors, physical and massage therapists, and other health care professionals), and the program I created, Get Pain Free ASAP, which was born out working in my field for 20 years. You can look at my bio to learn more about me and and listen to some of my client’s testimonials to get a first hand account of the amazing results I have had addressing and resolving their various issues.
Back to top3) What is the program, Get Pain Free ASAP?
When you commit to my program, I partner with you and show you some or all of the steps of my program, Get Painfree ASAP, depending on your needs and goals. The basis of this process is my hands on healing massage. From there, we will go over stretches and exercises for your specific issues and I will also show you how to break old bad habits and replace them with new better habits, using various techniques that accompany the bodywork and massage. This is a proactive program that requires at home work in addition to our sessions which once incorporated into your life, will free you from pain, long-term.
My approach is this: The body is supposed to move a certain way. If it’s not doing so, for whatever reason – injury, bad habits, or postural issues, what we need to do is to get your body to work and move like it’s supposed to. I will share with you my education, experience, and holistic knowledge to help get you there and get you feeling better and moving more efficiently.

5) How long will it take me to get out of pain?
You should experience some relief in one session, but lasting pain relief usually depends on several factors, including, how long the issue has existed and how much time and energy you can commit to learning and incorporating the parts of the Advanced Bodywork system into your life. Pain is usually the last thing to show up in the body when a pattern of dysfunction has been brewing. Short of accidents or acute injuries, most conditions don’t just “show up out of nowhere”. Long-term movement and postural habits combined with old injuries create conditions where pain shows up. Often, an injury can occur with a very basic, seemingly innocuous movement. To be pain-free and healthy long-term, old bad habits have to be replaced. Healing from chronic or acute injuries takes time, but if the right conditions are present, the body can and WILL heal. Don’t you think it’s worth investing some time, energy, and even money to getting out of pain especially if you’ve had it for say, 10 years?
Back to top6) How should I prepare for a session?
Be present to what your motivation is for getting Advanced Bodywork. Take a shower, please be on time, and wear loose-fitting comfortable clothes in case you will be rolling or stretching. Try not to eat a big meal just before as it can make you uncomfortable, and for that matter, don’t come starved either. Try to use the restroom before the session, but you can always get up during a session if you need to as well.
Back to top7)What actually happens during a session?
You will give me feedback on your progress and your current issues and goals. Then you get hands-on therapy that includes passive and active stretching. Finally, we discuss any changes you can make in your program/exercises as needed.
Back to top8)What can I do to get the most from a session?
COMMUNICATE! Talk to your therapist about anything that you like or dislike- if something hurts or feels good. Tell me if you need anything, like water, a tissue, or to use the bathroom. Breathe deeply during the massage, especially if your therapist is working on an area where there is an issue. “Good hurt” is only good if you are not having to hold your breath and/or resist what the therapist is doing. Be open to having a different experience of being in your body and please be respectful of your therapist (don’t make inappropriate comments or sexual advances!).
Back to top9) What should I do after a session?
Give me feedback. Were your issues addressed? Take a few minutes if you like after the session on the table before getting dressed. You can also ground yourself for a few minutes and relax for a moment before or after your session in our comfortable patio area, or your car, or take a short walk. Drink lots of water, and ultimately, do your prescribed exercises, stretches and other self-care. YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN HEALTH!

10) Can I work out before or after a session of Advanced Bodywork?
YES to both. Hands-on therapy will both enhance and be enhanced by a workout, ESPECIALLY if you are properly executing the right exercises and stretches for you.
